Love love love the Burberry Spring 2011 campaign with Cara Delevingne and Jacob Young.  Fresh, young and playful but still so chic.  Shot by Mario Testino.

Business of Fashion Seminar, April 16, 2011

In Publicity on April 25, 2011 at 3:20 am

Another exciting part of my week at Vancouver Fashion Week, was being asked to talk at the Business of Fashion Seminar.  I was accompanied by a wonderful panel (Ayten Archer, Jessica Karalash, Willard Ford and Aria Ganon) with a range of expertise.  I shed some light (from previous client feedback) on what their needs are when shopping for clothing and how to hone into the needs of their target market.

Opening Gala and Behind the Scenes at VFW

In Uncategorized on April 23, 2011 at 12:51 am

Being the Chief Stylist at Vancouver Fashion Week was a challenging and wonderful experience.  Not only did I get to meet and work with amazing people, but I was surrounded by truly stunning creations for six days straight.   Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers and people involved that made my experience one that I’ll never forget – the best team work that I have ever come across.  Thanks to Jamal, for having complete faith in me and letting me run with it, along with my trusty side-kick Jihan!

Here are a few pics I managed to take in between the running around ;o)

Lilly Allen Launches New Clothing Line!

In Uncategorized on April 7, 2011 at 3:58 am
Singer Lily Allen is launching a ready-to-wear collection under the Lucy in Disguise fashion venture she set up with her sister Sarah Owen.  Harvey Nichols in the UK, as well as various international stores, will stock the 18-piece vintage-inspired collection.
The line will also be sold at the Lucy in Disguise London store and online. The sisters opened their vintage store last year after Lily announced her retirement from the music industry.

Launching in June, each item in the Lucy in Disguise range will be named after significant people and places, including a Capone Thirties-inspired sequined dress and a Forties-style Fortnum’s tea dress.  Man, I wish I was there to see it!

Mavi Sample Sale

In Uncategorized on April 5, 2011 at 3:09 am

Mavi is having a huge sample sale that you don’t want to miss!  I can personally vouch for Mavi’s amazing quality and fit to suit any shape.

My acquaintance with Mavi happened by accident a few years ago on a very testing snowboarding trip.  We arrived at Gatwick airport, very excitedly unpacking our luggage, only to discover one very bag was missing – yip, mine.  The only clothing my other half and I had for the next 7 days were the ones we were wearing!  Somehow, I managed to remain strangely calm and my extremely generous friend Sacha offered to share her clothes with me.  The downside – it was one of the hardest weeks of my life, not having quite so much control of what I wore and having to wear mismatched outfits – oh, the shock horror!  The upside – my new pair of Mavi jeans (which I felt no guilt in buying – because I had no choice of course), the abundance of yummy gluvine and the fact that I didn’t have all that nasty holiday laundry to do when I got home.

I still have my Mavi’s and they are still my favourite pair of jeans!

They will be accepting cash, Visa, Debit and Mastercard

Happy April Fools!

In Uncategorized on April 2, 2011 at 4:40 am

Assisting Christie Lohr on this mornings Breakfast TV was heaps of fun, especially as we were about to unleash a line-up of ‘top fashion trends’ that were actually a melting pot of hideously mis-matched outfits that even the fashion police would run-away from – all in the name of April Fools Day.  The models were such great sports and it’s beyond me how Christie and Dawn managed to keep a straight face with the rest of us in stitches behind the camera.

Tassels & Trims

In Uncategorized on April 1, 2011 at 3:51 am

This small decoration, one which has the connotation of luxury and opulence, and was historically used as a symbol of status, both military and in religious order, is now back in full force for spring.

We’ve seen the odd appearance of tassels over the last few seasons, whether it be on handbags or shoes but they are now appearing bigger, brighter, extra long and in different textures.  They are adorning accessories such as necklaces, belts, earrings, handbags, shoes, hats and clothing.  Rope detailing is also being seen along with tassels in the form of accessories such as belts which gives it a hint of the much loved nautical trend.
